Responsibility

Since 2011, Kloke has made classic, wearable garments with a strong attention paid to detail, construction, fabric and component quality. Kloke is an independent, family owned and run brand. We have a small, skilled team working in our studio who develop patterns, design prints, and sample garments in-house. We acknowledge that it is our responsibility to make choices and decisions that reduce our impact on the planet. We are constantly working to improve our practices across our production and operational processes.

Kloke is a certified Australian Fashion™ brand. Kloke meets the compliance test under this certification. We produce at least 50% of our goods in Australia, we are proudly Australian owned with our 100% of employees based in Australia and as a company we are Australian Tax Domiciled with our tax paid in Australia. More information on the Australian Fashion™ can be found here. Kloke garments made in Australia are produced by makers that we’ve known and worked with for years. We design for longevity and every garment we produce goes through a rigorous quality-control process to ensure that each piece meets a strict standard

When selecting our manufacturing partners, we work with those who can provide the highest standard of garment, fabric, or yarn quality, with whom we can develop a good, long-term relationship, and who can show that their workplace and practices comply with the most up-to-date workplace and sustainability standards. Our international partners have obtained Sedex and BSCI certification confirming their commitment to continually improve their environmental, social and ESG outcomes.

Design

Our clothes are designed to last and each Kloke garment goes through rigorous quality-control. We are meticulous in choosing the best quality fabrics and components, and interrogating our manufacture and construction process to ensure that our clothes meet a strict standard. See our product care tips here to help increase the longevity of your garments.

Fabric and Sourcing

The majority of our fabric is sourced through Japan. We always look to use the highest quality fabric which helps to ensure that we are able to make long-lasting, high-quality garments that our customers can wear season after season.

The yarn we select in our knitwear is Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) along with recycled wool and recycled nylon yarns.

Our printed t-shirts are 100% Organic. We are continuing to build more organic yarn into our our jersey collection.

The Nylon used in our outerwear is 100% recycled together with recycled down.

Manufacturing

We keep a close eye on the manufacturing process throughout the garments production, locally that means visiting our makers’ small teams of cutters, seamstresses, and pressers weekly.  For our international factories we regularly visit to ensure all certifications are up to date.

When choosing both on and off-shore production partners, we work with those who can provide the highest standard of garment, fabric, or yarn quality, with whom we can develop a good, long-term relationship, and who can show that their workplace and practices comply with the most up-to-date workplace and sustainability standards. The relationships we have with our manufacturing partners are paramount, we work closely together to make sure we are able to deliver the best quality styles to our customers.

Workroom Recycling

We have now partnered with Reground to recycle all soft plastics that come into our studio and stores which is great news!. Reground are a Melbourne based social enterprise. Their website has some great information on their recycling system - but to put it simply, they convert the plastic back into oil which means it can be used to create new soft plastic - reducing the need for crude oil extraction.

We also recycle all our offcut fabric scraps and waste. W do this by giving fabric away to social enterprise The Social Studio anything that can't be used is sent to Textile Recyclers Australia

Packaging

All our online orders are shipped out in either composable satchels or Pollastic Mailers. These are purchased through Better Packaging Australia. Our garment bags are compostable poly bags.
