Puffas are our go-to heavy hitters for the cooler season. From ultra-warm down styles made for properly cold conditions to lighter weights that are perfect for those in-between days, they're built to keep you comfortable without taking up too much room.
A recurring favourite in our winter collections, our puffas are made from premium recycled nylon and filled with either post-consumer down fill or recycled padding. They're an easy essential for travelling, especially the packable styles that can be compressed into a bag for ultimate space-saving.
When spring cleaning rolls around, it's a good time to give your puffa a proper clean before putting it away for the warmer months. Or, if you're heading into winter now's the time to pull it out and get it ready for some serious wear.
Washing & Refreshing
For small spills and marks, spot cleaning is usually all you need. Blot the area gently with a clean cloth and cold water, try not to rub vigorously. For a quick refresh between washes, we like the Fabric Spray from The Dirt Company.
After a good amount of wear it's worth giving your garment a wash, especially before storage. Empty the pockets, zip everything up and turn it inside out. Use a gentle detergent and wash on its own on a cold, gentle cycle, or hand wash in a clean tub. Avoid anything too harsh, including fabric softener.
As always, check the care label first, different puffas can have different requirements.
Drying & Bringing Back the Puff
This is the bit that takes a little time.
Once washed, gently squeeze out any excess water and leave the jacket to drip dry until it's almost dry. Don't wring it out or twist it around.
For down-filled puffas, finish it off in the dryer on a low temperature with two clean tennis balls. They'll help fluff up the down and bring back that nice, puffy shape. Give the jacket a shake every now and then during the drying process to help spread everything back out.
Make sure the jacket is completely dry before wear or storage, nobody wants a mouldy puffa six months later.
Storage
For long-term storage, hang your puffa on a padded hanger in a cool, dry wardrobe. A breathable cotton garment bag is a good option if you want to keep it dust-free.
Packable puffas are made to be compressed when you're travelling, but we wouldn't recommend leaving them stored in this manner for months at a time. Especially with our down styles, give the filling some room to breathe, and it will be much happier for it.
